As a student at West Virginia Wesleyan, I always look forward to the spring semester. Not only is the weather warmer and the days longer, but there are also a ton of exciting events and festivals that take place on campus during this time. In this article, I’ll be sharing my personal experience with the spring semester at WVWC and highlighting some of the upcoming events on the Spring 2024 calendar.

Upcoming Events in Spring 2024

Spring Break (March 4-11)

One of the most anticipated events of the spring semester is Spring Break. This year, Spring Break will take place from March 4th to March 11th. Many students take this opportunity to travel and explore new places, while others use the break to catch up on assignments and get ahead in their classes.

Easter Egg Hunt (April 10)

The WVWC Student Activities Board hosts an annual Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn in front of the Administration Building. This event is open to all students and features a variety of prizes and treats.

Spring Concert (April 21)

The Spring Concert is always a highlight of the semester, and this year’s lineup is no exception. The headliner has not been announced yet, but past performers have included popular artists such as Khalid and Lizzo. Tickets usually sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase yours in advance.

Spring Fling (May 1)

The Spring Fling is a day-long celebration that takes place on the last day of classes. There are usually a variety of activities and games on the lawn, as well as food vendors and live music. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a long semester and celebrate the start of summer.

Events and Festivals in Detail

While the above events are some of the biggest on the Spring 2024 calendar, there are also a ton of smaller events and festivals that take place throughout the semester. One of my personal favorites is the Greek Life Philanthropy Week, which raises money for various charities and organizations. There are also a variety of cultural events and celebrations, such as the Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month event and the International Food Festival.

Another exciting event to look out for is the WVWC Film Festival, which showcases the work of student filmmakers and provides a platform for discussion and critique. And for sports fans, there are plenty of games and matches to attend throughout the semester, including baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
